Staff Development

Criterion maintains a strong commitment to the provision of high quality education and training for parents and professionals who desire to expand their knowledge about current research and practices related to child development, pediatric therapies and other areas of interest to those involved in the lives of young children. Its Professional Development Department plans and coordinates agency sponsored conferences, community training and in-service training for Criterion staff.

Criterion Child Enrichment employs an online training website offered by Criterion Child Enrichment.  The Training On Demand (TOD) website supports the treatment efforts and on-going professional development of Criterion staff.  The website offers training presentations in a number of areas relevant to being a Criterion employee.  Each training features a video presentation followed by a brief knowledge assessment.  Training includes administrative as well as clinical topics.  Many of the TOD trainings offer EI Competencies required for early intervention staff to receive Early Intervention Specialist Certification from the Department of Public Health.

All Criterion programs offer training opportunities to those with whom they collaborate at the local level. The early intervention, child care and newborn home visiting programs provide extensive training on topics related to; inclusion of children with special needs, early childhood curriculum and teen parenting issues to community based professionals working with young children and their families.

Additionally, Criterion administrators and program staff have presented at numerous statewide conferences such as; the Massachusetts Early Intervention Consortium Annual Conference, the Massachusetts Association of Private School’s Annual Conference, the Massachusetts Interagency Coordination Council’s Annual Retreat and the Boston Association for the Education of Young Children’s Annual Conference. The agency’s Professional Development Coordinator works closely with staff to develop and plan educational presentations.
